Networking is Good for Morale
I overhead a conversation recently that the use of social networking is good for morale. I pondered that for a while and then came to the conclusion that it’s actually true that ALL networking is good for morale – social or in-person networking.
Social media’s growing popularity isn’t hard to understand when you consider that it marries two aspects of humans – the ability to reason with being a social animal. In particular, the lure is that users can do a variety of things such as…
- bridge distances
- give/get opinions
- stay anonymous or become “celebrities”
- interact with like-minded people
- develop loyal followers
- keep informed of current events
The list can go on and on.
The bottom line is we have a need to connect with other people in life and business. Social media does that as does “in person” networking. Both are equally effective when used correctly.
The benefit of social networking is that it eliminates the need to be geographically close to your networking group. You can connect with people worldwide and still keep it on a personal level.
Any way you slice it, connecting with others is good for business… and for our morale.
